We stopped at the Temple of Luxor and walked into the complex by way of the dromos, a small street built by Nectanebo I. This entryway was originally lined on either side by sphinxes leading to this awesome temple structure. Our guide told us that the temple was built by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II and dedicated to Amun. The structure is evidence of magnificent times in the past. We explored the complex and were amazed at the height of the columns and also the remains of huge statues still surviving albeit damaged through time. There are two seated figures of Ramesses II at the entrance that demonstrate his importance and position in ancient Egypt .The magnificent obelisk near the statues is one of a pair and today the other one can be seen in Paris.
