This holiday promises to be the trip of a lifetime and we are so very excited to be doing our Bentours Follow the Lights tour, and then over to
Iceland for the Hidden Powers and Northern lights tour. We left Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport and faced a long flight to Doha, then onto Oslo and then a flight to Bergen. Our flights
with Qatar and SAS were very comfortable and we were well looked after. On arrival to the Clarion Admiral Hotel, originally a traditional pack house from 1904. It was centrally located
and after a short familiarisation of the hotel we were off to explore. There was snow and the ground a bit icy but no problem on our feet. Very pretty views of the harbour and
the buildings around and we spotted the funicular railway that lead to the top of the mountain so we bought tickets and up we went to Mt Floyen, where the most fabulous views
of the city were to be had.

Once on the top magnificent views of Bergen could be seen. Some of the houses looked like dolls houses and the water views were spectacular.
It began to snow lightly but we were off to join the many other visitors and families that frequent this delightful place. It is a wonderland of beautiful
scenery, amazing walks, people sledding and skiing and Troll Statues that seem so very comfortable in this amazing environment. People picnicking and just
having fun. We did have to buy our crampons here for our shoes and that certainly saved us falling over. Too soon it was time to go back down, have some food
and get ready for our welcome meeting with our Guide at the Hotel and have a good nights sleep.

Our Guide, Kelli was just delightful and today we were off on a guided tour of the city and surrounds before boarding our Hurtigruten Ship,
Trollfjord, in the afternoon. A walk around the town introduced us to the historical side of Bergen, then our coach took us around to see such sights as St Marys
Church, the famous picturesque Fish Markets, the old Hanseatic Wharf at Brygge and finally to Troldhaugen, where the famous Norwegian composer, Edvard
Grieg composed his famous music. A lovely setting by the lake and much of the history and life of the times were on show here. Fabulous day and then back to the
dock to board our home for the next 6 nights, MS Trolljford.
