A visit to Bonn today. This is another beautiful and picturesque city on the banks of the Rhine River. Again like many other older cities,
it was originally a Roman Settlement. On arrival we went to the scenic Funicular Railway Station, and boarded the train for a fabulous ride up to see
the 19th century Schloss Drachenburg Castle, high up on the hill. This is a absolute sight to see and the castle and the grounds are magnificent. The artwork here is amazing and looking out from the parapets we could see extensive views of the countryside.

Back in the town, we opted to walk around and explore the many buildings and quaint streets and the centre market place was a bit of a highlight. The stalls were selling local food and gifts but the most interesting was the cheese stall. Here were many varieties of cheese but the two sellers were
so much fun calling out the descriptions and telling us what was on offer. Great stuff. Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist who was born here in Bonn and there are plaques and statues around to remind people of this famous man.

A very necessary river sign to make sure ships travel on the right side. Cool
