This is the start of our Celebrity Solstice Cruise so very excitedly we were up early and caught the train to Circular Quay in Sydney and had our first glimpse of the ship that was to be home for the next 19 nights! After checking it out from the dockside, we put in our luggage and went upstairs to check in. It was quite a quick process and not too long after we were on board and ready for our next adventure After seeing our balcony cabin, time to explore the ship as were not leaving until 6pm. Walking around the decks gave us lovely views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Opera House and the city itself. The ship looked amazing so time to explore and find out where some restaurants and shops are..Woo hoo!

Imagine our surprise when we came across the Corning Museum of Glass show on Deck 15. Every day there were demonstrations of glass blowing by 3 fantastic Glass Blowers and we enjoyed sitting on the seats around the kiln area and watching what exquisite articles were created by theses talented people. There were many passengers on this ship but we felt like we were the only ones at times...

The Art Gallery was full of all kinds of art and sculptures and there was something to suit everyone's taste. Lovely to look at but one should know art to be purchasing unless its just something that appeals to the eye and there was much that did that. Entertainment was second to none! The Dance Shows by the ships company were brilliant and Broken Strings, the resident entertainment band were providing excellent music all over the ship and people just loved them. Great sound and fabulous performances. As past passengers we had a tour of backstage by a couple of the performers and had an insight to just how much work goes on behind the scenes.Along the way we had local cultural dance troops come on board and show us their traditional dances and it was all very entertaining and exciting!

We were now on our way to New Zealand, Bay of Islands in fact and there was lots to do on board on the sea days, more entertainment and lots and lots of food!! How could one not enjoy themselves as the staff were so helpful and the weather very kind us too. We would sail 1,162 nautical miles on this leg and so had plenty of time to meet others, make friends and just enjoy the voyage..
