Culloden, Glasgow & Gretna Green
More driving and more glorious mountains! And we arrived at Inverness about 4pm. Long, long day and after booking in went back down to the coach to go out to the Clavia Cairns....again, another enertaining drive after being in the coach all day! It was interesting and need to read more about the stones when we get home.... After a walk around the area back on the coach to go to a local pub for an included drink. Guiness of course! We sat out the back in the cold and watched some locals swimming and wind surfing....it was freezing and windy!!!
We left Inverness the next morning about 8.30 bound for Culloden where we got tickets to go thru Visitors Centre...great historical info about the government (English) and the Jacobites (Scottish). The huge battle was amazing and Bonny Prince Charlie was aided by Flora McDonald to get away (she dressed him in a maid's outfit). The Cairns outside were so interesting and we saw the many small ones with clans names on.

We are off to see the blacksmiths shop and others at Gretna Green, last stop in Scotland and then onto the Lake district
We had a lovely visit to Gretna Green and walked around the whitewashed buildings. It had a lot of history with weddings and there are many shops to browse where I did buy a pair of beastie slippers. Leaving Gretna and about an hour to the Lake District apparently there are 14 Lakes and is quite mountainous and Lake Windemere is the nicest one.
