Today's shore excursion is to visit Khaosiung, the second largest city in Taiwan. After a ferry trip to Cijin Island, on the outskirts of Khaosiung first,
we alighted at Gushan Ferry Pier. From there it was very easy to see the Cijin Old Street ahead and so off we went. Much colour in the shops and fresh food galore especially seafood!
Not too far up the road was Cijin Tien Ho Temple with many statues and images around. People were burning paper money as offerings amongst other activities.
Walking on down the road we came across Cijin Beach with all its black sand. We met some young school students here who were very happy to have their
photos taken. Fabulous place to visit!

Our next stop was the Soushan National Nature Park where the magnificent Spring and Autumn Pavilion Temples are. These are built on the
Lotus Lake and are huge, colourful and spectacular. These are dedicated to Kuan Kung, the God of War and were built in 1951. The Goddess of Mercy,
Kuanyin, sits on a Dragon in front of these Pavilions. There are many more temples and pavilions along the waterfront and it is quite a elk but certainly worth the effort
to explore. We came across a lovely old lady selling her food packages and she was just an example of the friendliness of the local people in Taiwan...

After a wonderful visit to Soushan National Nature Park, it was time to do a city drive and see some buildings and places in general.
On the way we stopped at The National Stadium where the 2009 World Games were held. After lots of photo taking it was time to go....
