A day out today with our wonderful driver, Wayan. We decided to do a little shopping in Denpasar and then call into a temple on the way to Kintamani. On arrival we were given sarongs to put on and then escorted across the road to the actual temple. The buildings were very Balinese in architecture styles and many toursits were enjoying the visit. Statues of all kinds could be seen and traditions were clearly being kept in this manner.

After a nice visit we were off to Kintami to see the Volcano. The weather was very warm but hopefully no rain It was a fairly long drive but once we arrived the view was magic! Lake batur in the foreground was very picturesque and Mount Batur was spectacular. It has erupted about 24 times since year 1800 and still active up to now. The lava trails can be seen very clearly and the whole area is one that tourists flock to see. Of course there were many sarong etc sellers but fortunately we resisited the temptations this time!!

On the way back to Ubud we decided to call into Tampak Siring Temple. It is a Hindu temple and is renowned for the peacefulness that it exudes. The water environment gives a special spiritual feeling and optism to this area for Hindu followers and is a very pleasant place to visit. Lush. green and lots of water around...beautiful and well worth the visit.

After a picturesque drive through the countryside, it was time to stop at the famous rice paddy viewing area. From here a wonderful view of rice paddies can be seen and its very popular with tourists for the photo stop. Wayan told us that Balinese rice can be grown and harvested 3 times a year here but other rice only twice.
