Our onward journey from Inverness began quite early as we had lots to do today. First stop was Loch Ness, a really
large expanse of water with many tales about Nessie to be told. We stopped to get a photo of the only "Nessie" we saw here and then
drove on past Urquart Castle which is located on the banks of the Loch. It is said that the Loch never freezes over as the water is very deep.
There are lots of lakes here linked by canals and the Great Caledonian Lake connects through these and allows people to access most of
Scotland some 874 miles from top to bottom with 2200 miles of canals.

Soon we came to Fort William, the largest town in the Scottish Highlands and is located near the tallest mountain in Scotland, Ben Nevis.
This was a beautiful town with a canal and a bridge to cross. A highlight is the canal locks which were busy with a couple of boats on the day. Then a visit to
Loch Linhe which was very picturesque and was flanked by tall mountains with lots of trees. Stunning! Glen Coe was the next
village and this was made famous by the Massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells. There are still some old signs in the local pub that say "No Campbells". Then across the Rannoch Moor and onto
Loch Lomond to have a cruise but the weather was horrendus and the boat ride was pretty rough. Apparently it had been raining for 3 days and 3 nights and the lake
had risen two and a half feet in that time. The average rainfall is thirteen and a half feet per year!

Our overnight accomodation was in Glasgow and as we arrived could see some of the buildings and the many statues
of Kings and Queens. Our hotel was located well and it was not too far to walk the main shopping area. One of the good things here was the pub
with Guiness! A lovely end to a great day!
