Missouri, Pearl Harbour

After our visit to the Pearl Harbour Visitor Centre, it was back on the coach to drive a short distance around the Harbour to see The Battleship, Mighty Mo BB63! As you walk in the size of this ship takes your breath away! It is 3 football fields long, beautifully restored after being decommissioned on 31 March, 1992. Each group is given a tour guide to talk you around the ship, and our guide was so knowledgeable and and interesting that we didn't want the tour to end. The ship is very large and takes time to get around, both above decks and below. Interesting to see how the sailors lived and worked. The guns on the ship look very large and the Main Gun Battery had a range of 23 miles when it fired. The most fascinating aspect of this ship is that it had the honour of The Japanese Surrender Document being signed on the Main Deck and that officially that ended the war. Again, too much to tell so the pictures should fill in more details.
