Perth
Six lovely days at sea sailing saw us coming closer to our next destination, Perth. Pretty exciting as we had never been before and looking forward to seeing Perth at a glance. After docking at Fremantle, we were shown to our coach for a City and Environs Tour. The day was overcast but very pleasant and our tour guide told us lots about the areas we were visiting. We drove around and passed Millionaires Row and saw the beautiful but expensive homes located there. Roads were good and soon we were headed for the Botanic Gardens.

Driving into the Western Australian Botanic Gardens was a delight as at the base of the trees on the side of the road were plaques to commemorate family members lost in the war. Very soon we arrived at the Gardens and off the coach to walk around and explore the lovely flora that Western Australia is so well known for. Lovely gardens, beautiful native flowers and trees and the colour was amazing. Coming across the Queens Tree was a surprise as it incorporates her picture of the actual planting in 1954. A highlight was The Cenotaph and the Eternal Flame dedicated to Serviceman in The Great War. This is a lovely place of Remembrance and fabulous Park area to bring families and picnic or reflect on history. It also has wonderful views of the City.

After quite a while to explore the Botanic Gardens, time to leave and have a drive through parts of Perth before arriving at our next adventure, a River Cruise to see Perth from the water.

What a fabulous time we had! Great Captain and crew and the commentary was second to none and so very entertaining and interesting. The homes along the river were amazing and very expensive and varied in their design. We saw lots of small vessels in the water and berthed in the docks along the way and it showed how popular water activities are in Perth. Our coffee cruise was such a highlight, and we had lots of laughs and all too soon time to go back to our starting dock.

Back on the coach after a wonderful cruise, we were off to another War Memorial situated on a hill giving us great views of the Fremantle and the Ocean as well. This beautfully maintained area was a tribute to Sailors who fought in the War and we had much to see and read. After a while we again were off, going back to the ship and passing Fremantle Prison on the way. Absolutely amazing and next time need to pay a visit as not enough time on this trip.

After sitting down by the harbour with a friend chatting about Perth and all we had seen, time to go back to Ovation of the Seas and not too long after we sailed out of the Harbour area bound for Adelaide.
