Picton

Todays adventure was to spend the day in beautiful Picton, located on the northeast corner of South Island. The area is so very well known for its wine production but today we decided to explore the town itself as we had been to the wineries around here on a previous trip. It is a small but very welcoming town, with restaurants, souvenir shops and cafes and pubs to visit. The harbour area is so very busy with lots of yachts and boats at their moorings and lovely walkways around to explore. Leaving the harbour, we ventured to the surrounding streets and took in the array of homes that were a credit to the area. A highlight was the market area near the park and a surprise parade of a Scottish band. What a lovely way to take in a delightful town like Picton.
