Rathbaun Farm, Killarney, Adare, Ring of Kerry, Cardiff
Something different today! A visit to Rathbaun Farm where we where settled in a large farm kitchen with 6 to a table. All of the ingredients were laid out and we had to prepare scones. So first pop on the blue plastic aprons, blue hats and blue gloves. What a hoot! Lots of giggles and much discussion about how much of this and how much of that before our resident cook took over and numbered our finished scone trays! She was going to put them in the oven so they could cook while we went out into the farmyard to listen to her husband tell us all about raising sheep. A demonstration by his working sheep dog was very interesting and the talk about how farms work these days was of interest. After this we went back to our kitchen and our scones were ready for us to enjoy them and a cuppa.

The evening brought a visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. A walk through a village that was just like it was many years ago was our introduction. Then it was time to go to the venue where the nights fun would be held. We sat down at the tables and were served much red wine and other drink before a wonderful meal that included Irish Stew. Our waiters were brilliant and made sure we were happy and satisfied. Then the show begin and the music from the drummers and fiddlers was amazing. The Storyteller introduced the evening and it was not long before the Irish dancing began. So entertaining and colourful and all in all a wonderful night and a highlight of the trip!!

Adare, a quaint village on the way to Killarney was not to be missed. Beautiful cottages with thatched roofs were everywhere. The gardens and general grounds were picture book and it was a bit sad to leave so quickly. We came across some lovely sights on the way to Killarney. A local with his animals, Charlie Chaplin memorabilia before reaching Killarney where some of the group had a Jaunting Car ride. Time then to cross St George's Channel from Rosslare to Pembroke by ferry and drive through South Wales.

Cardiff was our destination and after settling in to our hotel, a walk around Cardiff Castle was in order. A beautiful castle with exceptional grounds and lots of huge stone walls. There was a mediaeval dinner on there in the evening but we chose to explore the city instead. Lovely park and buildings and so many shopping malls. Cardiff City Stadium is the second largest in Wales and this is huge!!!
