Sentosa
On the first day we were off to see Sentosa, an Island resort that caters for all ages with fun things to do. There are hotels on here so one can stay and enjoy all of the activities or just walk and enjoy the sunshine. The Singapore Lion has pride of place and the wonderful mosaic snake that winds down the road is a sight to see. Universal Studios is here as well but we ran out of time to visit. There are other animals depicted here and each one is full of colour and pretty lifelike too.

Next on our list was to visit Fort Siloso, where gun emplacements, wax figures, tunnels and much history of the war. The site is very well presented and of much interest to its visitors. The bridge to walk over gives wonderful views of the city as well. Many artefacts of a war long time ago are on display and show some of the parts of war in history.

Time to catch the Sentosa Bus back to the main area where we explored a bit and had a lovely lunch tasting lots of Sentosaan food. All too soon time to go home to our Copthorne Hotel but not before we saw lots more views of this wonderful city.

Our Copthorne Hotel was located quite near to Chinatown, albeit a long walk but we enjoyed seeing the locals in their own environments and homes. Many took the time to say hello and it was great to see the many outdoor eateries full of people.

The train system here in Singapore is second to none. Easy to get tickets, signs are everywhere so its not hard to find your platform or where to go, and once on the train people are so polite and give up their seats to make visitors or elderly people comfortable. The stations themselves are spotless, staff so accommodating and helpful and travel here is so very easy and quick

A walk around in the city was on our list and then to Little India and see what bargains were on offer. Beautiful clothes and many souvenirs can be found here and a walk around was an absolute delight. Of course we managed to buy a few items to pack and take home. The small shops here had lots of items to look at and many decisions about what to buy had to be made.

One of the absolute highlights was seeing the Sri Mariamman Temple. It is at the end of the market street and a brilliant place to spend time. The temple is the oldest Hindu Temple and was built in 1827. It is dedicated to the Goddess who cures illness and disease. Very colourful and picturesque and has lots of animals scattered along the walls and in the temple environs. Very historic, very intriguing and a vital part of Indian culture in Singapore.

A visit to Sentosa would not be complete without a visit to Raffles and of course a Singapore Sling. Great way to end a fabulous holiday
