Arcadia - The Ship

Our ship, the Arcadia, is on a Voyage from Southampton to Southhampton. It is part of the
P & O fleet and even though it was launched in 2005 has had a recent refit to make some alterations. She
was built in Fincantieri, Italy and has an overall length of 285.1m. The gross tonnage is 83,781t and its height
is 63.3m from the keel. That apparently equates to a 12 story building! There are 1004 passenger cabins and the ship
has around 2976 pieces of artwork scattered around.
The cabins are quite spacious and very well maintained. Our cabin has an obstructed view from the windows
(a lifeboat outside) that doesn't interfere with our views or the light. The actual room is quite large
and we even have a bath in the bathroom.
The main restaurant is the Meridian and the decor and service is second to none. We have dinner there
each evening and are very spoilt with the choice. Lunch can be at the large buffet restaurant, the
Belvedere, on Lido Deck 9, where you can help yourself to a variety of food. Just outside there is the Neptune pool that
you can also have hamburgers and light meals in the outside areas. Breakfast is also in the Belvedere Restaurant and the selection is pretty endless.
The Palladium is the main theatre where talks and evening shows are held. The Globe Theatre is smaller and talks and
dancing are held there. Of course there are many bars and sitting areas as well as special rooms for different events.
All in all it will take some time to explore this ship but we are looking forward to the challenge.
Table tennis, camera club, craft sessions, talk on lions, cheetahs, talk on Lockerbie and Air Crash Investigations, Legs, tums and bums
health talks, 60's theatre show, exercise classes, Gorilla talks, port presentations are just some of the many activities on board.
