Unfortunately this is our last morning of the Eastern Europe Section of our Tour. To arrive at our destination of Budapest, we need
to travel some distance through the countryside of Slovakia so that gave us a glimpse of countryside living. Lovely traditional homes scattered
in amongst a few modern ones gave us an idea of times gone by. The roads were very good and our coach driver very competent.

Around lunch time we came to Banska Bystrica, a town on the Hron River in Central Slovakia. It was nestles in a long valley and was surrounded
by mountains. It is the 6th largest city in Slovakia and is the cultural and economic area of the country. As soon as we walked in, we could see the
huge square area, surrounded by a church, shops, restaurants and many buildings of note. The fountain appeared to be a major point and everywhere we
looked, there was something delightful to see. In particular the food!! We went to the bakery here and sampled the traditional offerings and sat
down to enjoy the local food before moving on. It was such a pretty city that time moved very quickly and soon it was time to board the coach for the last
part of our journey. Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to Matej, who had been a wonderful organiser and guide and to that end we all thanked him and
our driver for a wonderful, safe and interesting holiday.
