South Shore and Eyjafjallajokull Volcano
Today’s adventure is to drive the South Shore and see the beautiful scenery that Iceland has to offer and in the winter it really shows off. We stopped first at the Icewear Magasin shop where lots of Icelandic gifts and wear can be bought. There was material being woven here and lots of souvenirs and goods to browse. After our lovely visit it was time to back on the coach for a fantastic sightseeing drive that certainly didn’t disappoint. Lots of mountains, craters, rivers and everywhere one looked there was a sight to see.

As we travelled along the roads, which were very good, by the way, there was a different kind of mountainous outlook. The rocks, or Lava were quite scantily
covered in parts and gave a different look to the smooth, snowy scenes we had been seeing. Just spectacular.

Another change in the terrain and the mountains at times looked like they were just marshmallows!!! Not so though if you were out there climbing them….
Our weather was just right, cold but we were dressed for that and very little or no wind most of the time. March was such a great time to go as we certainly had the best of it all.

Not long before we arrived at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. This was one of the highlights as the waterfall was flowing in the most spectacular manner.
It seemed like clouds of water were coming down and it was so very special. The ice was frozen in many places around the rushing water and that added to the
fabulous vista in front of us. Everyone was stunned to see it and so pleased it was such a sight.

Last stop for the day but certainly not least was the new Lava Centre, where we were privileged to see a fabulous film showing the creation
of volcanoes, waterfalls and volcanoes in Iceland over the centuries. This centre is very modern and technology second to none so lots of ways of
finding information and enjoying the activities on offer.
