Spreewald, Germany

This morning we boarded our Travelmarvel coach, met our driver and off we went to Spreewald, Germany. A lovely drive through some green countryside and in a couple of hours reached Spreewald. This was a smallish town with lovely homes scattered about and we parked the coach near the river Spree. Then it was time to board small boats on a narrow river and much to our surprise found a young lady who would pole us along the water. We had beer offered and were very comfortable sitting there and taking in the meadows and forests that passed us by. This area was deemed a protected area by UNESCO in 1991 and around 50,000 people reside here. It is famous for the many small rivers and waterways that exist in this area. Tourism is probably the most mainstay of the area and all in all was a fabulous sail in a very peaceful and picturesque area.

Time soon came to an end on the water and we found ourselves in the restaurant area to sample many different foods and just quench our ever
growing thirst and hunger. All the local food was delightful and traditional so we filled up before continuing onto Berlin around 100 kms away. We had
a lovely time sitting in the courtyard enjoying our meals and the company around us.
