St Andrews, Braemar
Left early this morning about 8 o'clock and have got a fairly long drive. First stop is St Andrews to have a look at the golf course and the weather fine so far. Golf course was lovely and so well kept! Gary a bit surprised as it doesn't appear extra special. It is an ordinary course during the week but costs 200 pounds plus a caddy to play! Took photos of the sea and course and back at bus by 10.15 as we leave its starting to rain... Off to Braemar now probably a 2 hr drive.

A cow stop to see the belted galloways....one tried to smile at me. We drove
over a couple of small locks on the way to Fort William where it rained and we stayed for lunch....had a whiskey stop. Pretty ordinary and we looked over the river and a small memorial to 8 airmen killed in a plane crash there. Off for another 2 hour drive to a coffee stop. Very, very busy and then off to see the beautiful scenery of the mountainous area. Absolutely magnificent and in a way shame it was rainy and overcast....but on the other hand it added to the atmosphere, long but fabulous views,,,
It was another long trip and we saw lots of rolling hills covered with heather. It rained and there was heaps of fog but we were thrilled to see it all. The colours were brilliant and the whole countryside looked like a patchwork quilt....the Queen was in residence at Balmoral so her flag was flying. While stopped for a photo, a batch of black cars passed by and Adrian said the Queen was in the front seat. They were off grouse shooting! We stopped for a whiskey shop at Tomintoul. This the highest village in the Highlands. Karen was quite a hit at the whiskey shop as she was chief taster......and buyer. Well done Karen.
