Tanah Lot

A trip out to Tanah Lot was on our agenda for today. The weather didn't look really good today but we decided an afternoon visit was a fairly good option. The traffic on the way out there was incredible...many bikes and cars on all the roads. The scenery was delightful however as being out in the countryside was very different to the Kuta busy environment. On the way out the rain began to fall and it became obvious that we would not get a beautiful sunset. A bit disappointing but Tanah Lot itself was awesome anyway. Tanah Lot is about an hour from Kuta and the temple surrounds have been renovated to accomodate the many people that visit. The walkways leading around the sea cliff areas are well constructed and allow great views. The temple rock has been buffeted and shaped by the sea over many years and the greenery on the temple itself adds a bit of colour to it. This is one of seven temples built along the south western coast according to Balinese mythology. A place in Bali not to be missed!
