Another drive looking at the lovely countryside with a few small stops, before reaching Warsaw, the Capital of Poland. We were staying at the Regent Hotel just opposite the Od Town entrance.
A very historical and interesting city from what we could see and soon we were away across the road and into Warsaw old Town to check out the fascinating architecture here.. Next morning we were off bright and early to visit Lazienki Park, a cultural area with lovely surrounds complete with squirrels. We had a local guide here who was full of knowledge and gave us the history of the city as well as the park. This place is so picturesque and peaceful that we all felt it was a worthwhile visit. The grounds were lovely and the Lazienki Palace over the water stunning, as well as the beautiful gardens that made the park so picturesque. Frederic Chopin was Polands most famous composer, and is honoured here with a Bronze Statue near the entrance and recitals of his music are held on summer evenings for all to enjoy.

A visit to the site of the Jewish Ghetto was next and the Museum held many relics and much information for us to see.

Then it was time to visit the Old Town with its spectacular architecture and many cafes and restaurants. We tried our first Pierogi here,
a Polish traditional dish and just loved it. Strolling around after allowed us to shop a little but take in the atmosphere of such an interesting place.
People everywhere were all enjoying the streets and the many flower stalls as well as local shops that sold many souvenirs to passing visitors.

Back on the coach after a good nights rest, and off to see the Jasna Gora Monastery in Czestochowa on the way to Krakow. The Black
Madonna is the main reason for the visit as it is Polands holiest relic and a National Symbol. A service was going on as we arrived and we moved around
without disturbing anyone and apparently this is the norm. The grounds were interesting and a parade of the Priests took place outside.
